Folio

Folio everywhere

Send articles from anywhere.

When the Chrome extension isn't installed — Safari, Firefox, your phone, a borrowed laptop — use one of these.

Browser bookmarklet

Works in any desktop browser: Safari, Firefox, Edge, Arc, Brave. One click sends the page you're reading.

Send to Folio

Drag the dark button to your bookmarks bar (don't click it here). If drag is blocked, use 'Copy code' to install manually.

  1. 1Show your bookmarks bar (View → Show Bookmarks Bar in most browsers, or ⇧⌘B).
  2. 2Drag the 'Send to Folio' button above into the bookmarks bar.
  3. 3On any article: click the new bookmark. A Folio tab opens with the URL pre-filled — confirm to send.
Drag not working? Install manually

Some browsers (Firefox in some builds, strict Safari) block dragging javascript: links. Workaround: copy the code and create a bookmark by hand.

  1. 1Click 'Copy code' above to copy the bookmarklet to your clipboard.
  2. 2Open your bookmarks editor (Cmd+Opt+B in most browsers) and create a new bookmark.
  3. 3Name it 'Send to Folio' and paste the code as the URL. Save. The new bookmark works the same as the dragged one.

On your phone

Install Folio as a Progressive Web App and it shows up in your share sheet alongside Messages and Mail.

iPhone / iPad

  1. 1. In Safari, open folio.today and tap the Share button.
  2. 2. Tap 'Add to Home Screen'.
  3. 3. Now in any app: Share → 'Folio' → article goes to your Kindle.

Android

  1. 1. In Chrome, open folio.today.
  2. 2. Menu (⋮) → 'Install app' (or 'Add to Home Screen').
  3. 3. Share any link → 'Folio' → article goes to your Kindle.

iOS Shortcut (advanced)

Prefer not to install the PWA? Build a one-step Shortcut that opens Folio with the current URL pre-filled.

  1. 1Open the Shortcuts app on iOS → tap '+' to create a new shortcut.
  2. 2Add the action 'Open URLs' and set the URL to: https://folio.today/app/share?url=
  3. 3Replace 'url=' with 'url=[Shortcut Input]'. Toggle 'Show in Share Sheet' in the shortcut settings.
  4. 4Set 'Receive: URLs' as input. Save and name it 'Send to Folio'. Now it appears in your iOS share sheet.
