Terms of service

These are the terms for using Folio. Plain language; same legal weight.

1. The service

Folio takes URLs you submit and delivers them as e-books to the Kindle email you set up. The service runs on best-effort with no uptime guarantee, but we aim for >99.5%.

2. Your account

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and for what gets sent from it. If we detect abuse — spam, copyright violation, scraping — we may suspend the account.

3. Content

We don’t store article content beyond 24h. Article metadata (title, source, date) stays in your history until you delete it. We don’t train AI on what you read.

4. Payments

Pro is $5/month or $36/year, paid via Stripe. Lifetime is $69 paid once, capped at 200 seats total. We accept cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) — BRL for Brazilian cards, USD for international, detected automatically.

5. Refunds

Standard refund window: 7 days from purchase, no questions asked. After that, refunds are case-by-case at our discretion. Lifetime has a separate guarantee — see section 7.

6. Cancellation

Cancel from your account at any time. Pro access stays until the end of the paid cycle. Lifetime cannot be cancelled — but section 7 explains what happens if Folio is ever discontinued.

7. Lifetime plan — what it covers and what happens if Folio shuts down

‘Lifetime’ here means the lifetime of the Folio service — not the lifetime of the buyer. We commit to operating Folio for at least 5 years from the date you purchased a Lifetime seat. If we discontinue the service before those 5 years are up, you get a refund proportional to the time remaining: refund = $69 × (months_remaining / 60). After year 5, we continue running Folio for as long as it’s economically viable; if we eventually shut it down past year 5, no refund is owed but we will give 60 days’ written notice plus a one-click data export. If the service is sold or transferred to another operator, we will require the new operator to honour these same Lifetime terms — or refund any seats they decline to honour. Lifetime is hard-capped at 200 seats; once they’re sold, the offer closes for good.

8. Limitation of liability

We’re a tiny team building a tool we love. Our liability is capped at what you paid us in the last 12 months (or, for Lifetime users, the unused-time refund described in section 7).

9. Changes

We may update these terms. If we change anything material, we’ll email you 30 days in advance. Section 7 (Lifetime guarantee) cannot be diluted retroactively for users who purchased Lifetime under an earlier version of these terms.
